Keep watching & listening London. Here we come!

On Friday the 17th September at 19.15, Fashion tv and the Hauser Bearscharity will bring you to a fashion wonderland at their “Once Upon a Time” show, set in the majestic Bloomsbury Ballroom, followed by the ‘Happily Ever After-party’.
Sponsored by Audemars Piguet and hosted by the wonderful Gail Porter, the event will showcase a variety of collections and accessories from a range of designers including David & Goliath, Florian Jayet, Loulou Bontemps, Nichole de Carle and Tour de Force.
Hauser Bears is a remarkable charity that is dedicated to improving the welfare for bears worldwide. The ‘Once Upona time’ event will showcase the new range of limited-edition charity t-shirts designed by the makers of self-confessed ‘stupid tees’, kitsch and quirky brand David & Goliath. The t-shirts, available for men, women, tweens and toddlers feature a range of humorous designs and slogans all within a bear theme, specifically for the Hauser Bears charity and all their good work.
The show will also feature presentations from underwear designer Nichole de Carle, whose dramatic lingerie takes inspiration from the four exquisite architectural masterpiece icons located in the four
fashion capitals of the world: The Louvre - Paris, The Duomo - Milan, Westminster Abbey – London and the Chrysler building - New York. The nightwear collection will stage a turn for the dramatic as avant-garde designer Florian Jayet will showcase his remarkable new collection which is inspired by insects and armour and created predominately from leather, incorporating elements from his trademark futuristic aesthetic. The‘Once Upon a Time’ event will display several of his gorgeous dresses from this collection, throughout which features an intriguing juxtaposition of fierce structure and dramatic curve, creating garments with the perfect silhouette for a powerful woman with a commanding presence.
In conjunction with these beautiful clothes, Audemars Piguet will be providing a selection of their luxury time pieces and jewellery to add a touch of sparkle to the display, vintage accessories will be provided by Loulou Bontemps, a jewellery and accessory designer who reforms vintage treasures to make fabulous one-off pieces. The remarkable head pieces provided by fashion brand Tour de Force will add an air of theatricality to the collections through their striking and powerful designs, alongside beautiful makeup by Art Deco.
The‘Happily Ever After-party’ will commence directly after the show with a champagne reception, canapés and fashiontv vodka. The Bloomsbury Ballroom will be transformed into a dance floor, and will feature aspecial performance from surprise guests.
Hauser Bears and Fashiontv encourage you to lose yourself in this magical wonderland, as time will stand still and the Once Upon a Time show captivates your imagination.

What a fabulous fashion night out!
Myself and the fashion guru, social media genius Lisa Maynard-Atem STYLISA started our night sipping free cocktails in TOPSHOP while meandering through rows of fab highstreet wear. Loving the hot pants and winter oversized jumpers. Bring on the winter chill!
Oasis kindly shared with us a complimentary glass, one very hot red lace dress and cute ballet pumps.
LIBERTY stole the show, not only by having the best venue, collections, atmosphere, manolo mojitos and designer vintage but were also welcoming their collection by Manolo Blahnik, who we both managed to catch a glimpse while admiring his creations on the feet of the stunning Yasmin Le Bon. FASHION FEET FABULOUS!
You must have a look at the FNO tweets by stylisa (http://twitter.com/STYLISA) to really understand how excited we got! So much fun!
While marching on to start the tour of bond street, we popped in to Jimmy Choo, admired a lively staff party at Russell & Bromley, gazed at the beautiful men elegantly posing outside Armani. We did miss Alexandra Shulmans cocktail party with Georgio, our apologies to them both for not getting there in time! lol x
But to my utter delight, we ended our fashion night out of fashion heaven and manolo mojitos with the British style icon Vivienne Westwood. I love love love Vivienne. I love Vivienne Westwood! Handbags, wellies, jewellery, dresses, coats, handbags, handbags HANDBAGS! xxx
Thank you London's Fashion Night Out! What a night out! xxx

Posted by Jamie Nicholson on Tue 7th September 2010 at 07:30 AM,
Filed in Fashion Designers, Hot News, Industry News
London is the perfect place for up and coming artists and designers to get their work out there for the world to see and get the recognition they deserve. The fabulous Loulou’s fashion and art boutique encourages these young designers, helping them make that first step into the crazy and ever changing industry.
The boutique helps set up London fashion events and sells designers pieces through the online store and the next exciting event (which I am totally looking forward to!) is the London Fashion & Art Event which is taking place on September 21st from 4pm at the ICA – Institute of Contemporary Arts.
Some of the artists and designers who will be featured at the LFA event are Sally Pang, a womenswear designer who creates beautiful feminine dresses, Briar Rose, a couture designer whose pieces are unusual and gorgeous, contemporary artist Sophie Morgan and stencil artist DS Art both of whom seem to release their creativity to the max in their work.
An exhibition like this is not one to be missed! It will give you the chance to gaze upon the fashion and art of London’s exciting new up and coming talent so head over to Loulou’s Boutique to buy your tickets. Not only will it let you enter the London & Art exhibition you’ll even receive a complimentary glass of wine and entry to the after party at the Soho House Basement at the presentation of your ticket. What more could you ask for?

You must check out this new artist, featuring now in the gallery and hopefully coming soon to sale...
Her work reflects a contemporary Dali. I love surrealism and this artist takes it elegantly in to the contemporary. Keep an eye on Julie Kaye...

Looking for Still Remains?
This exciting new wearable art is generating quite a buzz.
Still Remains is the work of two people with a passion for ephemera from the past that has been discarded or forgotten.
We work with entomological specimens, delicate birds skulls, replica eggs and tiny antique dolls.
These curiosities are set in wearable glazed silver or nickel cases, creating an intriguing and enchanting artifact. In doing so, Still Remains have reconstructed disregarded and relinquished items, into
arresting and beautiful narratives, to be worn around the neck.
The diverse collection of specimens and objects are unique. These are one off pieces
and cannot be replicated, as each one is sourced and created from remnants of the
past.
I have fallen for their work! As a lover of of all things antique and always looking out for unique style, Still Remains has created this slightly spooky stunning art. Some pieces are perfect for adding surreal style to your lounge, others are designed as wearable art. They are fabulous.
You will see them in the September Issue of British Vogue, keep your eyes peeled!
and creating excitement over in New York. Still Remains are already featured in Gary Graham NEW YORK (fabulous womenswear designer) and Blue Tree on Madison Avenue. I believe they will be coming soon to Tokoyo, global domination seems to be the direction!
Buy your exclusive piece here soon at LoulousBoutique, before the world discovers them!
Their website is in the making www.stillremains.co.uk
You can find them most Thursdays at Spitalfields market.
Or contact them via email info@stillremains.co.uk

Loulou’s Boutique
Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Loulou Bontemps, owner of Loulou’s Boutique and purveyor of beautiful vintage jewelry, accessories and artworks.
Loulou’s Boutique and Loulou herself takes enormous pride in supporting up and coming artists and designers through her website which sells beautiful one-off pieces by designers such as Mister Batlow, Briar Rose and Gemma Dane.
My favourites are the Cleo necklace

A beautiful gold 16” necklace hanging a vintage ring made of crystal and gold which envelopes a black hanging stone at its centre.
I was also drawn to the elegant simplicity of Gemma Dane’s coin necklace:
It has such a vintage charm about it, it almost feels like the kind of necklace passed down through a family or rediscovered in a tin hidden away secretly in a wall.
Ana Ostrom’s Gold Flake ring is cute and quirky with attention-grabbing bubblegum pink detail but a classic pearl on top this ring would be a perfect as a cocktail ring, it is truly lovely. Made of brass, cotton and faux pearl this ring is the perfect dichotomy in that it looks luxurious yet it is humble and beautiful (and cheap!).
My favorite piece of all however is the Gold Leaf necklace. This necklace incorporates three of my favourite things; gold, leaves and pearls.
I love the extra long and adjustable hanging chaina, perfect for a backless dress, ended by the tiniest of pearls. It’s just magnificent.
If you want to see any of Loulou and her fellow designer’s stuff go to:
http://www.loulousboutique.com
or alternatively, go to the ICA fashion and art event on the 21st of September and see all the fabulous pieces in the flesh.

At the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts)
September 21st 2010
LFA... is a funky alternative to the ‘rush-hour’ that is London Fashion Week, being held on Tuesday 21st September 2010 at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. This event will showcase some of the best discovered talent that London has to offer and is an extension of my online boutique, which already supports young designers and gives fashion lovers the opportunity to invest in pieces that are truly unique.
The idea behind this debut event is to eventually run a parallel showcase to London Fashion Week, bringing us the best of London’s underground talent in fashion and art; a week of exhibitions, catwalks, parties, promoting and networking. What is fantastic about events like these is that they give designers and artists alike, the opportunity to showcase their work and gain ‘affordable’ exposure. And the fact that it is running at the same time as London Fashion Week, means the chances of being ‘discovered’ are most definitely increased.
In an age where competition to be the next big thing is at an all time high, I am keen to enhance the careers of other talented creatives as well as my own work as a designer and event organiser through these creative collaborations.

Fashion is a massive industry all over the world, but Europe in particular is known for being home to a huge number of fantastic designers and fashion houses. Subsequently there are a number of European fashion events held on the continent that people go to, to see what will be hot in the next season. These are essential events for designers to showcase their new garments and to allow buyers and the press to see the next trends. Here are some of the best fashion events Europe has to offer.
Milan Fashion Week (22-28 September)
Today there are fashion weeks held around the world but one of the most respected and revered is Milan fashion week. Italy is known for being home to a very fashion-conscious population and numerous famous designers have originated there, such as Giorgio Armani and Gianni Versace.
Paris Fashion Week (29 September - 7 October)
Paris is another place that is synonymous with fashion and style. It is a city known for its architectural beauty but also the beauty of the clothes that adorn many of its inhabitants. Paris fashion week is held at the Carousel du Louvre, a perfect setting to display artistic new creations.
London Fashion Week (17-22 September)
Fashion is one of the things that England does really well, with our designers contributing greatly to the current world fashion scene. As with the above Milan and Paris fashion events, London Fashion Week is held twice a year to show designs for summer and winter collections. The upcoming September show will feature next year's spring/summer collections
LFA - London Fashion & Art (21 September)
As one of England's newest fashion events, London Fashion & Art is a bit of a small fry in the world of fashion giants but it is an interesting and exciting event aimed at encouraging new designers and artists and to showcase underground talent and help people get their name out there in the industry.

An alternative to London Fashion Week
Words by Lisa Maynard-Atem of Stylisa
If you are looking for a funky alternative to the ‘rush-hour’ that is London Fashion Week, then why not check out The London Fashion and Art Event, which is being held on Tuesday 21st September 2010 at the Institute of Contemporary Art. LFA is the brainchild of up and coming handbag designer Loulou Bontemps, who not only has a talent for designing beautiful bags but also possesses a talent for spotting the couture connoisseurs and art mavericks of the future. This event will showcase some of the best discovered talent that London has to offer and is an extension of Loulou’s online boutique, which already supports young designers and gives fashion lovers the opportunity to invest in pieces that are truly unique.
The idea behind this debut event is to eventually run a parallel showcase to London Fashion Week, bringing us the best of London’s underground talent in fashion and art; a week of exhibitions, catwalks, parties, promoting and networking. What is fantastic about events like these is that they give designers and artist alike the opportunity to showcase their work, and gain
‘affordable’ exposure. And the fact that it is running at the same time as LFW, means the chances of being ‘discovered’ are most definitely increased.
In an age where competition to be the next big thing is at an all time high, it is fantastic to have people like Loulou who as well as enhancing her own career, is keen to enhance the careers of other amazingly talented creatives. Events like these epitomise the words ‘creative collaboration’ and long may they continue…
Here is a little taster of the talent that will be on display...
The heart of Sally’s approach to fashion design and style can be interpreted
as eccentric and edgy, with an understated feminine touch.

An incredibly exciting couture designer, whose pieces are like fashion
sculptures, carefully constructed with a fascinating yet morbid story behind
them.

Always handmade by Emily Peyrovi herself using only the best fabrics, and her love for luxe silk and lace, she creates the simple shape that forms 'can't live without' pieces.

David’s work takes the art of stencil-work to levels of exceptional detail.

A unique british jewellery designer, who hand crafts her designs that reflect her mixed Swedish and Spanish culture and fabulous personality.
Graffit artist and fashion entrepreneur for The Ugly Kids Club, this designer brings street design, fashion and attitude to canvas and his collection.

And more to come...

For those who have not yet made it down to the exhibition of David Schmidt (www.dsart.co.uk) then get on it!
This debut showcase of London's up and coming artist opened in Mayfair July 8th at the exciting new Cielo Gallery. The setting suits David's pictures perfectly and the venue itself offers a great night out, so get yourselves down there.
The opening night was well attended by celebrity guests, and yes I will name drop! those guests included Formula 1 driver Adrian Sutil; former Arsenal goalkeeper and broadcaster Bob Wilson; former Scotland & Arsenal player and league winning manager George Graham; and Frank McLintock, former Scotland & Arsenal player..... and breathe! brilliant! they obviously new something the rest of London is only just discovering and that is the up and coming talent of David Schmidt.
'The exhibition at Cielo offers a unique chance to view and purchase David's urban and witty artworks. His humorous and colorful pieces take after the likes of Banksy, yet have their own individual language and atmosphere'.
"David's work takes the art of stencil-work to levels of exceptional detail. Multiple layers create imagery beyond the monochromatic designs that adorn the walls of our streets; instead we are presented with depth, colour & detail that is complex, tactile & mentally engaging. Themes of violence & fragility are underscored by the playful & outright stupid - all dressed in the robes of rich colour & form." Andres Olow Clase, Orion Contemporary
David's exhibition will run from 7 July to 3 August 2010 and a percentage of profits from every piece sold will be donated to the MS Trust.
Gallery address: Cielo, 3 New Burlington Street, London, W1S 2JF
Exhibition dates: 7 July - 3 August 2010
Opening hours: 7pm until 4am Tuesday - Saturday
Let's support these exciting new artists like David Schmidt a.k.a DS Art
Isn't it more of an adventure to discover the undiscovered.
Get down there and write back to me your thoughts!
x
Loulou

"Director and writer Jennifer Moule garners zeitgeisty colloquialisms and recasts them with devastating acuity" ... "Free-styling new theatre company ‘Washing Line Productions' pitched somewhere between a Parisian clown show & a Jane Fonda exercise Fonda exercise video" - Time Out ****
"If they are this good now - what of tomorrow?" - British Theatre Guide *****
www.washinglineproductions.org.uk

Athens, cradle of the western world, bleeds across the broadsheets. The economic (c)Rash spreads and shakes the polis, and the people of Argos are itching, scratching to stone Orestes and Electra. The exiled Helen of Troy squats in the Hilton Argos, the citizens run wild in the streets, and sequins and blood run in the gutters.
Washing Line Productions’ hilarious and disturbing new work takes Euripides’‘Orestes’, the story of the disintegration of a noble Greek household, and reworks it as an episode of Dynasty. The play is riddled with lipstick stains, murder, and Joan Collins shoulderpads. Euripides’ triumphant massacre of morals, blood ties and civilized behaviour becomes a parable for our times: a wild dance of racing hearts, tongues and egos.
Branded a five star company by the British Theatre Guide, Washing Line Productions celebrate a total theatre, deploying all corners of performance (live art, dance, physical theatre and an electronic soundscape) to create a unique visual reality. Attuned to today’s schizophrenic ipod shuffle tempo-rhythm; we create an immersive cabaret style of performance pulsing with orange faces and pink noise, liberating audience and performer alike, to rave, stomp it, Nike tick “Just do it”.
Waiting for Apollo examines the 2010 body as a cultural battlefield, wrestling with Greek myths, carrot tanning and fashion fetishism. The performance uses codes and products of mass culture to disassemble and stripteaseingly poke at the masks and categories of identity, social hierarchy and gender. Within the hurly-burly of Greek myth, Joan Collins, commuter crowds and polyester fabrics, we seek the authentic voice, the real, sweaty poetic body – moments of clarity and stillness within Euripedes’ almighty text.
In 07 Washing Line Productions staged The Tail of Rampant Rabbit at C Venues, garnering 5* reviews and was shortlisted for the NSDF Edinburgh Emerging Artists award. The Scotsman commented that experiencing the show was “like channel-hopping between a nature documentary, a porn film and a Carry On flick. […] Casual patrons beware – it’s not sexy, but it is very sexual.”
Tickets: Preview: £6. Normal: £ £6.50- £10.50. Concessions £6.50 – £9.50.
