Egyptian Snake by Gemma Dane
Review by Lisa Maynard-Atem, STYLISA (www.stylisa.com)
When I saw this piece, I immediately thought of Lady Gaga wearing several of them layered over a fabulous Marko Mitanovski creation.
An abstract but engaging piece, I feel like this very much has a story to it, and is both intricate and delicate. It reminds me of Bauhaus and Picasso. This would definitely be a statement piece to be worn with a very simple outfit (an LBD immediately springs to mind), so that you can get its full effect.
My favourite detail is the little dice-like ‘G’, located near the clasp, which is the initial of the designer Gemma Dane. Detailing such as this makes it very personal and re-iterates the idea of a ‘story’ behind it, which I love.
When you wear it, you feel like you are wearing a piece of Gemma’s story. Both interesting and beautiful!
